The short version
Hunted works without an account, and then your runs never leave your iPhone. If you create an account, a summary of each run is backed up so it counts on the leaderboards. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and your data is never sold.
Location
While a run is in progress, Hunted uses your location to measure how far and how fast you've gone, including when your screen is locked. Your route stays on your device, and only leaves it if you choose to save the run to Apple Health. Routes are never uploaded to our servers and never included when you share a run.
Apple Health
With your permission, Hunted saves finished runs to Apple Health as running workouts with their distance and route, and reads your heart rate, active energy, weight and age to break down each run. Health data is never uploaded to our servers, never used for advertising and never shared with anyone. You can change these permissions at any time in the Health app.
Steps and motion
Hunted counts your steps and cadence with your iPhone's or Apple Watch's motion sensors during runs. Step counts are stored with your runs.
Your runner profile
When you first open Hunted you're asked what kind of runner you are, your easy pace and what you want from running. Your answers set your difficulty and recommended animals, and are stored only on your device.
On your device
Your runs, replays, step timelines, scores, trophies, streaks, runner profile, name, colours and settings are stored on your device. You can export your runs as a CSV file or delete them all in Settings.
If you create an account
We store your email address, the display name you choose, and a summary of each run: when it started, the animal, mode, difficulty, head start, race distance or goal, distance, time, rounds, steps and score. Scores are worked out on our servers. Replays, routes, heart rate and other Health data are not uploaded. You can restore your run summaries to another iPhone by signing in, and runs you delete in the app are deleted from your account too. Your display name and point totals appear on the leaderboards; your individual runs are visible only to you. If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only receive Apple's private relay address.
Elite Hunter subscriptions
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, card or billing details. The app asks Apple on your device whether you have Elite Hunter; that status isn't stored on our servers or linked to your Hunted account. Apple's privacy policy covers your purchase.
Who else is involved
Supabase hosts accounts and run summaries in the United States. Apple provides Apple Health, Sign in with Apple and App Store payments. We don't use any advertising, analytics or tracking services.
How long we keep it
Data on your device stays until you delete it or the app. Account data stays until you delete your account in Settings, which removes your profile and every uploaded run from our database straight away.
Your rights
You can see, export, correct and delete your data from inside the app: export runs as CSV, change your name, delete runs, or delete your account. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or in California) you have further rights, including asking for a copy of what we hold. Contact us and we'll respond within 30 days.
Apple Watch
Runs finished on Apple Watch are sent to your iPhone and handled exactly like runs recorded on the phone.
Audio
The heartbeat sound is generated on your device. Hunted doesn't use your microphone.
Children
Hunted isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes we'll update the date at the top and tell you in the app before the change matters to you.
